The torch of war

Obverse: A warrior wearing only a helmet rides his rearing steed left while carrying a sword in his right hand and a torch in his left.  Behind is a burning fortress.  The tableau is reminiscent of one of the horsemen of the apocalypse.

Reverse: Patriotic propaganda imagery with "God is with Us" text, a crossed wreathed sword with sheaf of wheat.  Hanging from both, the Iron Cross. 1915 below with "European War" along rim.

A scarce medal.  One of the better examples we've seen.
